Knoxville Fashion Week- Donovan Swick

The final show of the week was the show of Donovan Swick. Based in LA, Swick takes vintage pieces and puts his own twists on them. I love the chain mail bra, the brocade jacket, and the military elements throughout the looks; but I have to say my favorite part of the show was the Marie Antoinette- gone-grunge beauty looks. The entertainment value of the show was through the roof, and I think I can safely say that it was the perfect closing to a very successful venture for the Knoxville area.

P.S.- Sorry for the delay in posting these looks, the Internet in my dorm has NOT been on my side lately.

Knoxville Fashion Week- Diana Warner

Diana Warner is an East Tennessee native who currently runs her own line out of New York City. As if that weren't inspiration enough for me, I got the chance to see her collection in action last Saturday night at the Knoxville Fashion Week finale. Although I was crouched down in front of the photographers' pit (trying to avoid getting another very tall photographer in every one of my shots), I definitely think the sore legs were worth getting shots of all of the beautiful clothes. My personal favorite pieces are the beaded skirts (above), but everything seems very wearable and was styled impeccably.

Although I know happy models are a welcome thing in my book, there's more reason for the girls to be clapping than just for fun. As one of the last few models went down the runway, one of the most magical things I've ever seen happened:

An beautiful collection and an unforgettable proposal? No wonder Diana was doling out high fives as she came onto the runway!

Knoxville Fashion Week- Emerging Designer Showcase

All photographs by me. Designs featured include  Jetta BooneAlaina Smith, Ajnel, Kelle Jolly, and Xeraffe

Last Wednesday marked the beginning of a four day event that I'd never thought I would see: Knoxville Fashion Week. Although I wasn't eligible to attend the launch party (alcohol and a VIP pass were involved), I did go to the emerging designer showcase on Thursday night. The four design labels mentioned above put on an excellent show at a local venue, Latitude 35. I thought that throughout the shows, even across various designers, the best things that I saw were all in the details. I loved the little things: a ruffle on a sleeve, a bow on the back of a dress, a nice pleated peplum, and all of the fabulous things going on above the models' shoulders in the last three shots.
I thought that overall, the collections presented were very youthful and a good experimental show for the emerging designers that participated. The location was pretty intimate and the show actually sold out, so pictures (and specific information about each collection) were difficult to obtain. I thought it was a great entry into the high fashion market for somewhere that stays below the radar of the fashion conscious.
Stay tuned for pictures of the Knoxville Fashion Week Finale in tomorrow's post!
