Wear it Anyways!

Moto zip crop jacket, Nasty Gal. Full woven skirt, American Apparel. Thigh-high socks, c/o Hansel from Basel. Stretch perfect shirt, J. Crew. TBA Chelsea boots, Modcloth (old, similar here). Vintage Dooney & Bourke purse.

The weather finally cooled down enough to bring out my thigh high socks from Hansel from Basel. I loved their lookbooks and branding before I got the chance to style these socks. Now I'm happy to say that I love their products as well. I can't wait to add some of their tights to my collection for the winter. High quality hosiery is an underrated essential when it comes to fall and winter. It really does make all the difference in keeping you warm.
With thigh high socks, I knew it would be easy to stray into either overly school girl or grunge territory. Instead of committing to one style or another, I combined some elements of both to create a sort of rogue school uniform outfit. This is perfectly in line with a philosophy that I adopted while shopping recently: if it looks like something a "sexy librarian" might wear, then it'll probably be my style. I know that trope is completely cliché, but I do find myself drawn to combinations that involve buttoned-up pieces with something more "edgy".
As I typed that out, I realize how difficult it is to get style down to a "formula". While I know things that I will always gravitate towards, I can never quite pin my style down into a one or two word description. Even the word "classic" makes me cringe because the classics are different for every different style type out there. Someone who is classically preppy probably won't want a leather motorcycle jacket, but I think that's when the most successful outfits are made: when we get just a bit out of our comfort zones and wear things we admire, but don't think we can "pull off". Wear it anyways!

I love your knee socks, they look so cozy and high quality! I've definitely been drawn to wear all black ensembles lately, and I'm super inspired by your style!

I'm all about the sexy librarian style! I really like how you did a bootie with the socks.

I love this look! I have a few pairs of thigh highs that I just haven't been bold enough to wear yet. I loove the way you styled yours!
