Spring Showers

Black woven sweater, Forever 21. Oxford (underneath), BDG. Pleated skirt, train case, thrifted. Secondhand Dr. Marten boots, Planet Xchange. Red framed glasses, c/o Firmoo. Leather bow, American Apparel.

My favorite kind of weather is when I can wear literally whatever I want and be comfortable. Fall and spring usually fit the bill pretty perfectly. I can layer a collared shirt under a sweater, but still comfortably walk around in bare legs. As you can probably tell from the blooms, these pictures were taken during the first few weeks of spring rather than recently. Although, we've still had some cool nights that can't quite be called summer yet. I'm not complaining. The weather has been quite comfortable and my outfits haven't suffered a bit.
This is one of my favorite outfits to date. I combined a bit of schoolgirl inspiration with my boots that I've been favoring during rainy weather. I typically eschew regular ole rain boots unless I'm wading through a creek. While I could definitely see myself enjoying a pair of Hunter wellies. I've never really been one to steer towards bright colors; obviously this outfit is no exception. I find that neutrals mix together more easily, essentially doubling my wardrobe. When I do go for a color it's pretty predictable: red, blue, or olive green.
What are your secrets for stretching the pieces in your wardrobe?

P.S.- I guess cute guys do grow on trees!

All That I Want

Cotton motorcycle jacket, Hurley (similar). White boxy tee, Gap (similar). Mystic Sands asymmetrical skirt, Ruche. Studded flats, Go Fish Clothing & Jewelry. Triangle necklace, Pac Sun. Zig zag tote, American Eagle. Black woven leather belt, thrifted.

While neutrals remain my faithful fall back no matter what the season, light layers in neutral colors are what I'm most excited about for spring. I felt right at home in this comfortable outfit. One of my favorite challenges for my style is to see how many ways I can style one basic item, such as a white tee. When you get excited about the basics, you'll never get bored of the wardrobe you already have.
I'm excited for when the weather is warm enough to consistently wear outfits that I'm excited by. The March weather in East Tennessee is finicky at best. While there are days when the temperatures make me happy to get out of bed, others bring cold wind and I'm forced to bring out my winter coats once again. While I try my hardest to appreciate each season for the natural beauty that it brings, my hands are dry and cracked from too many hours spent outside without gloves.
On the plus side, daylight savings time means that blogging pictures are much easier to fit into my schedule now. Golden hour was usually about 5:00 or 5:30, but with afternoon studio classes that stretched until 4:50, it was hard to get into gear. Now pictures are a much more relaxing experience that can be taken as late as 7:00. I often describe photographers and fashion bloggers as slaves to the daylight because of how important catching the right lighting is. That being said, I am thrilled that if the temperatures aren't perfect, the lighting is certainly getting close.
